BLOOD LIPID PROFILE IN PRIMARY OPEN-ANGLE GLAUCOMA: A BIOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS STUDY

ABSTRACTOBJECTIVE: Investigation of blood lipid profile in primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG).MATERIAL AND METHODS: In this study, there were 100 participants, whom 50 patients with POAG and non-POAG consulted the ophthalmology clinic. Levels lipids including total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density (HDL), triglyceride (TG) investigated. Data compared t-test, Mann Whitney U, Fischer correlation Chi-square test. p<0.05 was considered statistically significant.RESULTS: While mean age 65.7±11.09 years, 66.2±10.44 years. The normal reference ranges for laboratory tests study 0-200 mg/dl 0-130 LDL, 35-70 HDL, 35-160 TGs. levels as following: cholesterol 199±47 202±46 (p>0.05), LDL 114±37 112±43 37 HDL 51±14 54±19mg/dl TG 170±69 146±102 (p<0.05), respectively.CONCLUSIONS: no significant difference found between regarding levels.
